The Radnor and Riviera Residents' Association was formed on 4th August 2008. It is an entirely voluntary association. Its aims are to safeguard and promote the common interests of residents living in the area regarding problems including housing, community safety, and the environment. It works as a pressure group to help maintain the character of the area and to represent residents on issues that jointly affect us:
• Planning Issues
• Parking & Traffic
• Neighbourhood Watch Scheme
• Vandalism
• Community Safety
• Condition of the roads and pavements
• Street lighting
• Street Cleaning
Its objective is to make it as easy as possible for every resident to take a full and active part in RRRA including any social events that may be organized. By supporting one another in many ways e.g. by attending meetings or writing on issues of common concern, we have achieved a considerable amount - including the area’s inclusion as part of Sandgate’s Conservation Area and helping persuade both the Parish and Shepway Councils that we have an unique area and wish its character to be fervently respected including its precious trees and green spaces
Membership
Membership is open to all residents of Radnor Cliff, Radnor Cliff Crescent, and the Riviera in Sandgate. There is no charge to become a member – simply get in touch with the secretary with your email and contact details. Financial contributions will occasionally be requested on a voluntary basis according to need. Donations are always welcomed to help cover administrative costs. All money raised by or on behalf of RRRA is only applied to further its objectives.
Representing the views of the Association
Chairman – Ian Barker
Secretary – Joanna Ames
Treasurer – Hilary Cane
Membership – Penny Day
Neighbourhood Watch – Jerry Ridgway
The above form the Committee of the RRRA who meet according to need to discuss common issues and for example, select representatives to meet with council officers and local councillors to discuss current issues of concern to residents in the area. For planning applications attracting serious concern of residents, a sub-committee is formed representing the neighbours immediately affected by the development who then in turn choose a chairman responsible for organising meetings of the sub-committee.
Keeping you updated
An e-newsletter keeps everyone up-to-date with progress on current issues and fully informed of all matters of interest. A separate e-newsletter is circulated on behalf of our Neighbourhood Watch. For those that do not have an email address, please arrange with a neighbour to print out the RRRA emails & e-newsletters and deliver them to you.
Please either write or preferably email your contact details and telephone number to the RRRA secretary Joanna@arrivee.co.uk or to 12 Radnor Cliff, Sandgate, CT20 2JJ.
Between 0 7.20 and 21.30 on Wednesday 25th January the rear patio door of a house at The Corniche, Sandgate was smashed and entry gained. A search was made of the house and a number of items of jewellery were stolen.
It is that time of the year again. Please check the security of your outbuildings to ensure you have done all you can to make them secure.
Metal theft continues to rise due to the very high scrap value currently being paid out and please continue to be vigilant and remember that thieves do require transport in order to carry away stolen metal so – if you see anything suspicious including vans and lorries ‘cruising’ in the area then do let us know – make a note of the registration number if you can – IF they are innocent then they have nothing to worry about but it just might be the information the Police are after in order to link up crimes and make the arrest.
So please be vigilant and report on either through myself, through Crimestoppers (telephone: 0800 555111) or: remember to use the non-urgent number (unless the crime is actually taking place!) which is 101.
Stay Safe!

OTHER RRRA NEWS!
RRRA goes electronic!!
We are now over the 100 membership in the RRRA and can report that the RRRA Neighbourhood Watch Scheme newsletter is also being ‘posted up’ on the new Sandgate Community UK web site: http://communityuk.net/sandgate-cuk
Congratulations to David Cowell for his tireless efforts in fundraising and setting the web site up and running alongside the area Broadband scheme.
Please do visit the site – information is building all the time!
The Radnor & Riviera Residents Association have a page/site and we hope to develop that as soon as possible into our own website.
Lastly - a polite request, on behalf of a RRRA member, to all other RRRA members - if you are having building/garden work being done, can you please ask your workers to use the turning circle for their vehicles at the end of Radnor Cliff rather than use people's drives.
